Finally...

So, I know I have not done a great job on blogging, but now that I have more time I hope to keep it updated at least weekly. (wishful thinking)

As I just said, I have more time because I am officially done with student teaching!! Yay!! But I sure do miss my kindergarteners!! I am going to surprise them next Friday for Polar Express Day. They are watching the movie in the morning while drinking hot chocolate, and then doing a bunch of crafts and fun stuff in the afternoon! I can't wait to see them!

My last day of student teaching...
My mentor teacher was not there for my last day due to a family emergency, but it was still an awesome day! It really did not hit me that it was my last day until the last hour of school, our planning period and all of the Kindergarten teachers brought food and stuff to celebrate the other Kindergarten student teacher and I's time with them! I was beyond blessed to have such an amazing and supportive Kindergarten team to work with the past year! Then the time of the day I dreaded...dismissal! I thought I was going to be ok, but I told the students that they could not leave without giving me a hug. The first hug is when the tears started flowing!! I sent the kids home with a a goodie bag from me, and I meant to take a picture of everything that was in there, but I forgot to. :-( I bought all of the students a clear water bottle and wrote their names on it and put a pencil, eraser, fruit snacks, crazy straw, nail polish for the girls, cars for the boys, and a coloring book with crayons. I also found this poem on Pinterest that I typed up and out in their bags....

I read it to the students since they asked me what it said because not all of the could read it. Of course, as I am reading it the tears were flowing! I honestly feel like I left my own children! I mean I was with them for their first 3 months of schooling!! Since my mentor teacher was not there my last day, she brought me a card to our reception we had at The University of Memphis. The kids made a card with their handprints and names written on them. They also wrote a sentence on what I taught them. As I was reading the card, the tears started flowing again, not only because I missed them, but also to know that I touched 19 children's lives in one way or another! Teaching is one of the most rewarding jobs!!

On another note, Ricky got a job doing all the books for Hard Rock Cafe Downtown!!! He started it last week, and so far he is really enjoying it! They are sending him to Orlando to do some training in January. I have submitted both Memphis City Schools and Shelby County Schools applications, so the wait begins!

Wedding plans...
Now that I have more time, I can focus more on the wedding! I am really excited to get back into the planning! I was watching Glee the other day, and for all the other Gleeks it was the one with Finn and Kurt's parents got married and I decided that our wedding needs to begin the way theirs did! Haha!

Well I will post more about the wedding plans and everything later because I need to get back to cleaning!
